Digital Archiving and Preservation Policy
General Provisions
The Digital Archiving and Preservation Policy of the journal «IT Synergy» aims to ensure the long-term preservation of scholarly content, stable access to publications, and compliance with international best practices in the digital archiving of research outputs.
The policy is based on the principles of open access, transparency, reliability, and preservation continuity.
Purpose of the Policy
The main objectives are to:
- ensure long-term and continuous access to scholarly publications;
- preserve research content for future generations;
- guarantee the stability, reliability, and transparency of published materials;
- support modern standards of digital archiving and open science.
Digital Preservation System
The journal «IT Synergy» ensures the preservation and accessibility of published materials using the Open Journal Systems (OJS) electronic journal management system.
All scholarly content is stored in the journal’s electronic archive and is accessible via the official website. Publication files are maintained in standard digital formats (including PDF) compatible with current and future long-term preservation technologies.
Digital Archiving Mechanisms
To ensure long-term preservation of content and protection against data loss, the journal uses the following systems and services:
- PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN) — a decentralized preservation network for journals using the OJS platform, providing secure backup storage of content;
- LOCKSS and CLOCKSS — international distributed digital preservation systems that store content across independent servers and ensure its recovery in the event of loss of the original source (CLOCKSS operates as a controlled “dark archive”);
- Vernadsky National Library of Ukraine Repository — a national electronic archive that collects, preserves, and provides open access to scholarly publications.
Indexing and Metadata Dissemination
To enhance the visibility of scholarly publications, the journal ensures their inclusion in information systems and academic repositories, including:
Full-text versions of articles (in PDF format) are also submitted to the international scientometric database Index Copernicus.
Deposit and Archiving of Print Copies
Printed copies of the journal are subject to mandatory archiving and cataloguing in leading library and governmental institutions of Ukraine, including:
- Ministry of Justice of Ukraine
- State Committee for Television and Radio Broadcasting of Ukraine
- Vernadsky National Library of Ukraine
- National Parliamentary Library of Ukraine
- Book Chamber of Ukraine
- State Scientific and Technical Library of Ukraine
- The Vasyl Stefanyk National Scientific Library of Ukraine in Lviv
- Kharkiv State Scientific Library
- Odesa State Scientific Library
Open Access
The journal adheres to the principles of open access and ensures the permanent availability of published materials without restriction.
